Job Requirements

Main Duties

-Maintain accurate financial records for all logistics and shipping transactions

-Record and reconcile expenses related to freight, port charges, demurrage, and transportation
-Monitor cash flow and operational costs to ensure financial efficiency

-Process supplier invoices including shipping lines, clearing agents, and transporters
-Manage client invoicing for logistics and shipping services
-Follow up on outstanding payments and reconcile receivable balances
-Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
-Track and analyze logistics costs and profitability per shipment or client
-Assist in budgeting and forecasting for logistics operations

-Ensure compliance with local tax regulations and statutory requirements
-Prepare and submit tax returns (VAT, PAYE, etc.)
-Support audits and ensure proper documentation of shipping-related transactions

Other Requirements

-Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
-Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in accounting, preferably in logistics or shipping companies
-Professional certification (CPA) is an added advantage
-Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
-Familiarity with logistics/shipping costs (freight, port charges, demurrage, etc.)
-Understanding of tax regulations and compliance requirements
-High attention to detail and accuracy
-Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
-Proficiency in accounting software, ERP systems, and MS Office (especially Excel)
-Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
-Fluency in English and Swahili
